As we bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, let's usher in the new year by dispelling the old and embracing blessings. On the occasion of the upcoming New Year, we are excited to present our first handcrafted keycap collection, crafted with multi-colored and multi-layered resin – 'Five Elements Dragon.'
The Five Elements theory is a significant part of ancient Chinese philosophy, where philosophers used the concept of five elements to explain the formation and interrelationships of all things in the world. It elucidates through the principles of generation and restraint. These elements are Metal (representing contraction, symbolizing hardness and sharpness), Wood (representing bending and straightness, embodying growth and gentleness), Water (representing immersion, symbolizing flow and the inexhaustible vitality of life), Fire (symbolizing heat, corresponding to brightness and warmth, representing the release and transmission of energy), and Earth (representing transformation, associated with bearing and stability, symbolizing the inclusive nature of the earth and maternity). Generation signifies one thing nurturing another, promoting its development, while restraint emphasizes that one thing can restrict another, maintaining balance. These relationships showcase the interconnected and interactive nature of all things in the universe. The dragon, in Chinese culture, is a mythical creature symbolizing strength, wisdom, and auspiciousness.
The conceptual design of this keycap series aims to integrate the Five Elements theory from Chinese historical culture with the image of the dragon, creating a unique and meaningful new representation. It seeks to convey values and aesthetic concepts related to traditional Chinese culture, providing a deeper understanding of the depth and breadth of Chinese culture.
